I am a registered psychologist, a doctoral candidate who has not graduated, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Its been pretty rainy the past few days but its been kind of nice- the pitter patter is really soothing and its been super cozy studying inside with the rain hitting the windows.
I tried shooting my food with my Nikon 35 F1.8 and I left it at f1.8 and …nothing is in focus except for a tip of a carrot. W made rice cake stir fry- its one of my favorite noodles to use/eat.
Another failed F1.8 shot- steak/eggs/corn. So far the veggie diet has been good but I am not dropping off as much weight as I want to – going to have to ramp it up soon.
More fried rice cake.
Green beans and preserved veggie seasoning.
Tomato and egg stir fry.
Out for a run today and really enjoying the weather. I think I officially don’t call myself a runner anymore- I am definitely more of a lifter and running is just taxing to me. Oh well.
Its like I have more ambition to lift heavier than run faster/further. I’m plannign on picking up some more free weights and hopefully go all in with lifting and stop using the smith machines. There’s something about pure iron weights that just make them so much more than a cable machine to me in my head.
The best part of a run- walking the end. I’m looking forward to today’s workout- I am going to start tricep training. I normally don’t train triceps because I feel I hit them hard with all my presses, but after watching one of my youtube faves CT Fletcher train triceps with the pull downs, I want to throw them in. W is eager to train arms (for once! ) and will come down with me. Pretty pumped.
Baked kale – its turning out pretty decent but its hard to find the right time to make it crisp and not burnt.
Lots of assorted preserved meats because I love these little bad for you suckers.
And here we go- the herald of the summer season- flies. I remember when I had to memorize the different dipterans in my udnergrad entomology classes. Super fun. I didn’t recognize this guy though. A quick google shows it to be Sarcophagidae- a flesh fly. They deposit their maggots on open wounds/decaying flesh. Wonderful haha. Found him in our living room.
Checking out the bakery in Chinatown- I always love looking at all the colors here under the lighting- it makes me so happy seeing all these delicious treats waiting to be eaten.
Tried something new today- did a tricep full workout- tricep pulldowns on the cable machine, overhead raises standing and lying down (with the 80lb dumbbell here), bench dips and regular dips. It was really fun and W pushed through hard on it. It was really nice doing something new and non routine. I might have to shake everything up with my other exercises I had so much fun today.
Checked out the JBL pulse the other day- I love the idea of a portable lightshow speaker- I am a big shiny lights kind of guy. The sound was just meh though and like other reviews have stated, its pretty much at best a 100 dollar speaker sound.
Parking in McCaulley area – enjoyed the early morning commute and came back to a warm sunny afternoon.
I got to help out with pre-season CFL medical testing the other day! Super fun and the players were really nice. I had a blast and I was also really really inspired by their fitness levels- part of the reason I decided to push out some triceps today and get something new in my body.
