I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Hitting the running trails today- paced myself well and still left with a winded dead body- but it felt great! The later afternoon sun was wonderful.
Of course I met my nemesis – twice! That’s less than before, but at least I’m trying. I think.
Used to walk these halls all the time going to chem labs or organic chem labs and switching out from V-Wing. I really miss V-wing on campus, I had so many classes in it.
So I decided to randomly buy a pair of JVC cans today- totally forgot they bought out Kenwood, one of the better audiophile oriented companies. This was their esnsy line (essence of style- seriously!). I didn’t find ANY reviews on these so they must not have sold well. I saw they were released Aug 2013 and that’s it. I want to point out one of the features of this headphone is a luxury paper gift box style. I’m serious. JVC thinks that this is a selling point. I realize packaging is important and I love great packaging, but that just sounds stupid to me. I’d rather them focus on the headphones themselves. There’s very little to indicate they focused on the headphone’s capabilities from the marketing shpeel.
I picked up brown because I have so many black cans- it turns out they were fairly cheap build and the luxury feel I was looking for just wasn’t there- I was hoping something on the lines of a Bowers and Wilkins P5. Its all fake chrome plastic and really obvious pleather- that’s not to say build quality was bad- it was about the same as my Sony MDR-1R- but there were some things that were questionable like really off stitching. Soundwise, they were not very remarkable- I didn’t really spend a lot of time analyzing the soundstage because I have so many closed cans that they just didn’t stand out to me- coupled with the meh build quality and I think they are going back. Too bad. It would have been interesting to own a pair of JVC cans.
Had dinner at Dadeo on Whyte Ave- apparently the owner changed because the biscuits and jalapeno jelly tasted pretty meh- almost like lime jelly. Not what I remembered them to be.
The atmosphere is fun, lively and loud. Its hard pressed to have a convo in here. But you feel excited with the crowd.
The lighting is exceptionally dark.
Po’boys are the specialty here- its a Louisiana style restaurant. I had blackened catfish.
W had crab cakes. Really great.
But what was even better was the Tiger hot sauce and the sweet potato fries- the fries are UNREAL. They are battered and tasty.
Saw a bunch of cute homes around Whyte ave as we walked back to the car. I love these big wrap around porches- they just seem so inviting.
Really nice early summer evening- just the right temperature.
Another really slick home- that extendagarage is really cool. I dig the style a lot.
