H doing some surprise crazy stuff on the playground at night. Gave her a light to tie on her jacket so we wouldn’t lose her in the dark. Tourtierre pie -cozy date time with H – first time trying this type of pie- saw it online years ago and was psyched – tasted ok but I wish the flavor was more kick in it. Lunch time at Kyoto – Tanooki- really cozy atmosphere and the room setting gave us a little bit of privacy in these pandemic times. I still contend there is better sushi out there and I wish there was more meat in the food, but the prices are lower and the flavor is fine. City vote- got to see the Stanley Milner library for the first time inside and really liked the internal design much more than the outside. Very cool looking. House shopping- found this cool closed off office that I just fell in love with. Burger and duck fat fries at La Petite Isa – the fires are so crispy and flavorful – I ate the burger right as it came out and it was piping hot/fresh. Really juicy and flavorful. Doing some reading at my alma matter – first time being on campus with other students during the pandemic. Found some fascinating research updating treatment including the use of balance in ADHD treatment. Those Lebron 18s are still very cool to me but they are killing my feet. First time at Steel Wheels- food was ok but I wasn’t blown away. I’m sure it serves the bar crowd much better. The bulgogi pizza I expected to be more intense but alas. It was….just a sort of forgettable pizza. I grabbed a second pair of the Romaleos because I lvoed them so much. I don’t know why but this color combo looked way cooler online. I love them so I kept them but my yellow grey Romaleos are still my favorite. Joking about dad shoes- the Nike Monarchs are the pinnacle of the dad Costco outfit….they are really wide so I can see comfort in them but they actually aren’t that comfortable. The padding is actually quite rigid but not in a supportive manner. helping my bro move into new digs and immediately fell in love with the view out of his home here. What a killer Autumn vibe. Now I’m really itching to move out. Now that I am familiar with the Reebok Legacy Lifter II and the Romaleos 4, I went back to try the Adidas Powerlift and Adipower lifting shoes- and they were really disappointing. They are flat…and that is about it. I don’t think they are much different than a pair of skater shoes. None of the stability and rigidty that the other shoes offer. And the styling really doesn’t work for me in this white- the off white esp looks like faded sun ruined plastic to me. I’m very curious about the Adida’s Adistar lifting shoes as those seem to have a cult following. Surprise find- got the ZS200 with a 24-350mm zoom and 1 inch sensor with a Leica branded lens (ha) for a fraction of the cost in mint condition. It turns out to be very fun to shoot with. Its definitely a good light camera but the extra reach of the lens makes it more versatile compared to the short range of the rx100 III despite the brighter Sony Zeiss lens. I find that the advantage of a 1 inch sensor is not significant enough for me to care about shooting with the Sony RX100 III over the iPhone. But this adds a lot of fun with that huge zoom range. The DFD focus is faster than contrast only AF on the RX100 III. I like the built in EVF as well. The touch screen isn’t as important to me. I like using it when I want to be light an d use a fanny pack. Lunch with M at Italian Panini – great food and great pricing- its soooooooooooo good. The carbonara is my fave and the flavors are so intense. I had the explosion hot deli meat panini as well. Fries aren’t too bad either. Japonais Bistro – probably my fave sushi in the city and a clear step above in quality…with price added on. That is a cool looking tray for take out. I don’t buy basketball shoes because I feel like a huge poser not playing basketball- but these were soooooooooooo crazy that I had to get them. The comfort is good initially but I think they don’t work for me long term. But I kept them anyways. Winners find- Puma Apple Watch case in the stupid bright neon colors I adore. Its a pain to get in with a screen protector but I dig it. High level bridge street car action- really fun ride out. Saying goodbye to the train. Really cozy in here. Wish it went even longer. Japanese street food in Whyte- the food was goodbut I still think Japonais Bistro is not touched in the city for sashimi/sushi; the curry was ok- that weird meatball in the middle was good. It was way too crowded for my liking in the restaurant but I’m glad for them and thriving in these tough times. tough times including burning garbage cans because hate on infrastructure. This lobster roll and truffle fry combo was SOOOO good. Really liked it.
Got this GoZone Walmart weight belt for 10 bucks. Amazing for this price- I debated getting an Adidas or Nike one but this was just there at this price and those were hard to find. It really helped with dead lifts- I found I got an easier lift for sure with the belt. First time using it. Running with non Air filled Nikes. Great support. Hit up treadmill for like the 5th time this year. So weird not to be getting in more treadmill runs by this point of time. Its really hard for me to do these runs. I think I’m so conditioned for outdoor runs I am having a hard time adjusting- usually its the other way around. Had a fun time with this new movie from same dude from the Conjuring- it started out creepy and then it went insane and felt like Captain America and the Winter Soldier but with like ghosts. M’s killer 150 inch projector and Paradigm Speaker set up made it really fun. Now I’m shopping for speakers myself. I have the classic LA extended definiton speakers and andother ED 5.1 set but I think I’m interested in a full tower speaker set up. Right now the AR1 is the most modern audiophile speaker from Sony (I’m sticking to my home brand despite better choices out there) but its ….27000 USD and no longer sold. The NA2ES seems to be the most likely candidate but its still a steep price and not in my budget. But at some point I think it might be feasible. There is a pair that appears to be damaged online but its going to be one heck of a shipping charge. Omega prime rib at the Keg. It was really good at first but I think it just got tiresome eating it especially because there was so much other food- the Keg classic combo adds a dinner sized Caesar salad that was really good and that filled me nicely on top of the appy buns. My normal rib steak choice but I convinced M to get it to try it.
