I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Weve been having a blast doing our Thursday night gym/late dinners. This was one of the best ones- Seoul Fried Chicken is easily my favorite place in Edmonton- the food is tasty, the price is reasonable, the service is consistent and the portions are AWESOME.
Finally watched this – the Grudge vs. The Ring. SO GOOD. I thought it would be a dumb mash up movie cashing in on the franchise names, but it totally was a great movie on its own. Really unexpected ending, and well worth the watch. Had a couple scary moments, but nowhere near the horror feel when I first watched Juon/Ringu. The ending was superb.
The subtitlist had a ball doing the movie haha- They used Expellarimus and Avada Kedavra to fight the evil spirits
When I was cramming for my doctoral candidacy- took one of our counseling rooms at school and hit that hard- soon it will be the same with the EPPP licensing exam. Really enjoyed using my 18.4 AW Vaio for all of this- like having a portable desktop. Unfortunately it looks like it has a faulty Intel wireless card that intermittently cuts out. Gonna have to figure something about that.
Had a run in with an NSX after a run. SO COOL. I don’t really care about the relatively low power of this car. Its just ridic.
It was lower than my waist. It rides so low to the ground.
ITS SO GOOD LOOKING.
Enjoying the Silver Skate Festival in Hawrelak Park- it was still frozen on the lake.
But the snow was not frozen, and it looked less wintery and more depressing. Not a lot of winter magic here.
Roasting Bannick bread in the Silver Skate FEstival- pretty sure we didn’t cook it properly. It was still doughy.
Enjoying 18 meat poutine at Silver Skate Festival- it was quite tasty.
H working hard on getting those lats built up. I enjoy using this far more than the bar at work gym- its a smaller diameter and I get a better grip so the focus is just lats.
Checking out my old digs when I worked childcare. Pretty surreal to see this playground, and remembering all the times I spent making sure staff were in ratio, and waiting for the day to go by.
Looking a little like Silent Hill here with the fog on the city.
Having fun near the Muttart Conservatory overlooking downtown after another hard gym night.
Using my 1000 lumen flashlight and testing how it lights up a full size school gym. Spooking myself out. Feeling the Silent Hill vibe.
More cramming for my doctoral candidacy.
One of the characters at the Silver Skate Festival.
H burying herself at the Bay.
Checking out my old digs at the Northeast Community Health Center. I only worked here for a few months, but built up a lot of memories from here.
In the midst of all my other audiophile finds, I also managed to snag the former flagship single dynamic driver MDR-EX1000 Asia version earphone- the Asia version has the EX1000 cable not the EX600 cable. So far its been a blast, but I think its overshadowed by the SA5000. Its quite picky with the source- it sound awful with my Walkman X, but sounds quite good with the Walkman Z. The Z is much more flat in output, so it seems to pair better with more clinical sounding DAPs. It feels quite premium too- its a clear flagship in build, in comparison to my previous favorite, the XBA-H3/XBA-40 which are both very plasticky in comparison.
Enjoying the view of downtown Edmonton.
H working on that 100 lb dumbbell. She has taken a huge liking to the gym and gym equipment.
Some of the unique frost that hit out city in the waning months of winter.
Checking out the Prime Rib at the Keg. Pretty tasty for sure, but got cold when I had to take care of crying H. Oh boy. It was ridic busy inside.
Really enjoying the staff gym at work- really made me realize how there are so many things beyond a pay cheque that make the job appealing.
Hitting Dominos in our fave hang out from undergrad- HUB mall. Lots of good memories here, and making more memories here still haha.
Hitting up Chopsticks Chinese food for the Grudge/Ring duel. Pretty solid Western Chinese.
More cool frost on the city.
Great looking frost all over the city
Love my crew at work- one of the best things of the job is having a really great support system with work friends.
It’Dog California dog- SO GOOD. Alas, the consistency has been really terrible lately- the last two times we went, there was half the crab meat on the hot dog, and the chicken was so small. Have to say I’m pretty turned off by that now.
Enjoying Chinese New Year’s with family. A really gigantic spread/gathering.
Enjoying post workout buffet- my fave pizze is the Garlic Parmesan White sauce/donair meat/pan pizza crust combo. Its SO GOOD.
Hitting up Burger King AND McDonalds at the same time. The Whopper is like one of my fave burgers.
H enjoying Hide N’ Seek. That place is pretty sweet for the kids, and wildly chaotic for the parents.
Meeting up with friends at a forgettable Southern restaurant off Whyte- was supposed to have a special doughnut/fried chicken combo but it was mostly just…meh
Doing lots of walks with H around town- I love walking with her and seeing her discover the world. This week we discovered ants! Haha.
H having a blast with an army of pink tricycles. I used to think Walmart was ridiculous to hang out in….but now I understand why parents do it- toys for the kids to look at, food and chairs to take a break in, and get your shopping done at the same time.
