I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Corner office overlooking the city at the end of the day. Gonna miss this view when we move into our new building next year.
I love the sunrise and sunsets from my office window. This picture looks like divine intervention is happening.
Somebody has this at work and I’m super jealous. I wish Nismo put more HP into it though. I just love how aggresively ugly this Juke Nismo is- it reminds me of the A-10 Warthog – brutish overall.
So this happened- I decided to try out McAffee Antivirus since it came with my ISP for free….and it absolutely killed my boot drive….and then wiped out all my music too. My backup for my music also died. No amount of recovery solutions worked, so I had to do a total reformat and reinstall….and then it wiped out my overclock too. I’m running at stock power right now and 30% less power than what I was running stably for like 2 years. Definitely annoyed with this. But at least my desktop is running again. I was pretty sad looking at its lifeless chassis. The good thing is that I have a range of back up machines to get my work done, unlike before in undergrad when a wipe of my only computer lead to certain catastrophe. I also work primarily through the cloud, so that also makes sure that a computer crash doesn’t kill my workflow. The only thing killing my workflow is my motivation.
I was pretty excited about this wifi feature I JUST LEARNED about on my Sony Reader. You can log onto Overdrive right on the Reader and download directly from the local public library. Right now I did a test run and downloaded Jurassic Park- while its slower than I would like, its overall quicker than downloading it to my computer and then syncing it to the Reader software. Nice. I’m looking forward to more reads. I decided to limit myself to one book at a time so I actually finish it before it expires.
Got to use the iPad Pro again and have to say I quite like the keyboard- I thought it was like the Surface Touch Keyboard, a product I genuinely hate. Its not! Its clicky like the Surface Type keyboard. I don’t see a need for a big tablet like this though.
Found a Vaio Pocket DAP in pristine condition the other day! I have read about these things for years (its from 2004!) but never actually handled one in person. Its G Sense touchpad is a terrible idea. I get they were really trying to make an alternative to the iPod ClickWheel, but its not done well. I find controlling this quite finnicky. The really neat thing is that this is from the VAIO division and not the Walkman division. It was released alongside the NW-HD1 Network Walkman and is a totally different approach- its fat, has a big color screen and its fat. Its really fat compared to the HD1 of the same timeline. Definitely will review later. So far I have mostly found it unintuitive to use and a bit of a pain. But I LOVE its design- reminds me of the VAIO A series notebooks.
Out for dinner at It’All all you can eat Japanese and Korean. I love the decor and atmosphere here. The service is also top notch.
I really like these cozy booths.
Can get enough of the brown styling.
First plate- the food quality was good- definitely above par for a buffet.
This turned out to be my favorite dish- deep fried mashed potatoes haha. I laugh because this is what W would normally do at a buffet- choose the least expensive item and only eat that one item.
The food spread was good, but it was pretty empty inside.
The thing I don’t like about empty restaurants, particularly all you can eat, is that there is less push for fresher food to be rotated out. And its less exciting in ambiance.
Still, the food ended up being pretty good because the hot food came fresh out of the kitchen.
The meat was a little bit bland though- expected a bit more kick in flavor.
Most of it was Korean cuisine.
This one had flavor- I seriously expected much more taste in the meat. At least it was fresh. I was just sad about the beef steak.
Famoso Pizza- this was super delish – it was mozarella wrapped aroound a piece of ham and drenched in tomato sauce. Super yummy.
Assorted pizzas- generally liked all of them a lot- they are a lot less filling than a typical pizza, but much more fresher and lighter in the stomach. Good atmosphere and very very friendly service.
Nutella pizza- ok, but definitely more for W
Filled with gooey Nutella and bananas
Whimsical cupcakes – they have a special buy 3 get 1 free for university students- definitely a big plus for me- carrot, pancake, salted caramel and white velvet here- definitely tasty. And fat.
THEY HAVE COOKIE COVERED DONUTS AT TIM HORTONS. OMG WTF ROFL BBQ.
Butter chicken and pulled pork poutine at New York Fries- buy 1 get 1 free with student price card. Really milking my student status here. These were really delish.
10 chicken nuggets for 2 dollars at Burger King! And leftover pizza from Famoso. And Whopper. The Whopper was awesome. I love the Whopper.
The new McDonald’s breakfast wrap is actually really really good- it has the entire McValue meal inside a wrap- sausage, hash brown, egg…lots of egg. Very filling.
Had to deal with a really annoying error at the airport- they refused to let FIL on the plane because he didn’t have a return ticket to Canada, despite the fact that he has dual citizenship. HUGE WASTE OF TIME at 4 am on a workday. THANKS AIR CANADA.
The lady refused to bend the rule, despite this being a clear exception to the rule. And then when we finally managed to get the return ticket, the next guy didn’t even care- still missed his flight because of this idiocy. Not happy.
The gym is now my outlet for all the tired emotional strain from terrible sleep. Babies do that I suppose! Definitely had a terrible night and then workday running off of 3 hours of sleep.
They managed to fix the TV in the gym finally. And i got used to running without a TV. Tried out the treadmill away from the TV and it was weird seeing how a little change made me hyped for a run. Just little differences to break a plateau.
Hot pho for a cold winter day. This was nice.
SUPER DISAPPOINTED – i thought I was getting the meat patty that I used to eat in my childhood at the local Vietnamese restaurant. Instead they made up some weird excuse that the wording was wrong and it was meant to say egg- it clearly is not an issue, and then they said it wasn’t offered anymore, which was not pointed out when i ordered it….definitely not happy with it. Aside from that, the food was good and the portions were good. But I have a bit of a sour taste from this.
