I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Halloween has come and gone this year- I totally did not dress up AGAIN. I always like holiday events and I didn’t do anything this year. And now I kind of regret it. I also didn’t want to do therapy in costume so maybe there’s that.
I really have been struggling to figure out this combo- the NEX-5 and the 16,, plus wide angle converter just pump out super super soft images- definitely not something you expect on a large sensor camera. Its really the only lens I think fits on this body perfecttly in my shooting style so …I’ll have to go back to the drawing board
Trying out Route 99 diner- lots of people and lots of friends. Good breakfast for sure. I love good company – even more so when good food comes with the company.
Steak and eggs- realizing I don’t like rare that much anymore- I like the fat to be melted a little- mostly it tastes like im chewing meat and thats it.
Hitting up McBain to try out some lenses- got to try the e-mount 18-200 LE version and 18-105 F4. Really liked the 18-105 F4 especially with the OSS. The 18-200 was really hard to handle (zoom ring super stiff) but it felt like a nice piece of kit.
Looking at all the lenses I’d like to try one day.
Going back and forth with weights and running the last month or two- just not losing/keeping off the weight like I did in summer, and I’m really not that concerned about strength loss.
I always look forward to these beautiful mornings on the city.
Peking duck dinner- my fave- the skin and wrappers.
Enjoying a late fall afternoon- still warm out with the 18-105 F4 on my side.
My old nemesis- recently hit it up again last week and it felt great to be back on it. I’m definitely interested in picking up some winter running gear. I do miss the hot summer days hitting this stair case.
Gorgeous fall evening for runs still. Need to throw layers in now though. Really loving these Air Maxs right now.
Missing the days when all my pals would be waiting upstairs in the dorm to chill – this seriously meant so much to me in undergrad- I can’t coutn the number of times this saved me from school stress.
The door was always open to us! Some really good times here. I think that’s the thing I really liked about this time- there was never any planning really- you could always count on someone being there to hang out with. It was really nice to have a chat between classes, or someone to turn to when things got ugly at school. Ah, onto adulthood now I guess.
Turkeys galore- we ended up making three this year because of so many families. Definitely a lot of fun cooking with everyone. I love these events when the whole family pitches in as a team.
Dim sum at Urban China. Pretty tasty.
Beijing Beijing for dinner. Food was pretty solid. Pricier than I usually go for, but definitely reflected in quality
Baby shower! Pretty proud how it turned out. I have to say that I might have bit a bug in hosting events. I really liked making the little party decorations like the herbivore sign here with the vegetarian items
Decor at lunch. Love it.
The lunch spread was super solid. I quite like the surprise in not knowing what the chef is going to put on the spread
Baby bump in the evening- starting to get hooked on actual photography rather than just the equipment. This was a frantic hunt for light as the sun went down.
Burning our Christmas tree from LAST year. Going to be hunting for a new one pretty soon haha. Had a bonfire with the bros over Halloween evening and watched some really terrible horror movies.
I LOVE THIS- the Sony MDR-AS700BT is a sport bluetooth headphone that has multipoint – its paired with my phone and my iPod touch. The music quality is AWESOME, especially for a sport headphone. The bass is HUGEEE. This is big because usually running headphones are pretty bad for bass- they usually are too loose/lbecome lose over a run, and this means less bass. These stick tightly and deliver a nice slam. They obviously are not audiophile level but they definitely hold their own against my other gym headphones- really solid for both lifting and running. I love the two different pairing qualities- you can have stable lower quality streaming or less stable higher quality streaming. I am using the latter, with my iPod in my hand and have not had any issues yet with interruptions or cutoffs.
CRAFTING- after all the crafts I made for the baby shower, it definitely felt weird not to have crafting to do after work. I guess that’s a good thing- I have my thesis to work on.
Made a ball toss game that was WAY too difficult. Oviraptor vs. protoceratops. Someone actually scored the 5 pointer up top. But basically only 3 people scored anything at all.
Crafting! So much crafting.
The mountain vs gunnar nelson and connor macgregor. I can’t believe they sparred together. I’m a fan.
IM A FAN OF SAGE NORTHCUTT. LOOK AT HIS BICEPS. This guys started out fighting right from birth. His dad was a bodybuilder. This is HUGE. MMA is so recent that people rarely have a lifetime of trainign specifically for MMA. This is the new breed of fighters who not only have the martial arts training, but also the athelticism that takes them far and beyond the typical brawler that thinks he/she can do MMA. This guy is gonna go places.
