I am a registered psychologist, a doctoral candidate who has not graduated, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
So fall came pretty quickly- its definitely colder and much much more darker. I was still running outside at this time in June. Sigh.
I can’t say that its ugly though- its absolutely beautiful outside with the fall colors- unfortunate how fast those colors fade though! I am very excited for Halloween for some reason this year though
One of my last outdoor runs- I’ve been really focused on the treatmill out of its pure convenience and the fact that its not as bad as I remember it to be.
I do like this- haven’t incorporated it in my runs yet but I will try to do so, as I did with stairs in the summer
My current running kit- new kicks – I actually wore down my last Air Max shoes within 5-6 months. I love the new colors of my new kicks. Same model, but they jumped up in price for some reason.
Also lucked out and found a heart rat emonitor just for my Nike sportwatch with GPS- works perfectly but it is a pain in the ass to wear across my chest. its really tight and kind of annoying. I like knowing my heart rate but its trivial at this point for me.
Breakfast of champions for my mom
Birthday cakes! Way toooooo sweet though- I have stopped liking the generic cakes you get at grocery stores- they really are kind of gross sweet.
Trying out a new soup restuarant- specializes in noodles- this was a fish and pumpkin based broth and really really flavorful
Experimenting with filters- plain old take out Chinese food
Gorgeous warm Autumn afternoons
Basic au lam and pork/shrimp wontons noodle soup- run down place but super busy and tasty/cheap
Its a hole in the wall, but a good hole in the wall. Met my old buddy from Campus Computer store here and got to catch up. Great mentor ship from the university book store that was lost when it closed its electronics store down- they did an amazing job doing IT help for students.
Evoque and GTR on the prowl- I’d love to own one of these one day- realistically I’m hoping for a Juke Nismo RS.
Tried out some duck/green onion cake wraps at Dream Tea- not bad, but not mind blowing either. I tried out a powder based bubble tea and it was really blah- will only order fresh fruit bubble teas from now on.
Yours truly chopping up fire wood for a chilly fire with friends. Love these hang outs.
Toying with the idea of an 18.4 inch laptop- these puppies are rare but I think it might be worth the hunt. I love bigger screens now since I no longer need to be ultraportable, and a monster sized laptop would be just alright in my books. The VAIO AW is the last of the 18.4 inchers from Sony- this was the premium version with camera grip material for the wrist rest to emphasize the focus on photographers/media professionals. I love gimmicky stuff like that.
SCHOOL- WHAT THE EFF. I must say that I am currently at wit’s end regarding my doctoral work. I just got a whole bunch of edits on my proposal, a delay for a year on my residency hours for the program…..it goes on and on. I am just super super super frustrated with this stuff right now. The good thing is that my clinical work is picking up well and I am moving forward with my life in other areas. The bad thing is that this stupid reseach work is bottlenecking me right now. I say stupid because that’s what my emotional state is at right now. I’m going to be a happy camper when I am done with this PhD. Looks like I’m going to be one of those long term students. Certainly fits the blog title perfectly. Ugh. This picture is a bus coming to campus. This symbolizes me- except that its forever.
