SUB has changed so much since I started many moons ago- this used to be the quiet area. I used to study tehre or nap. I tended to avoid it because the heat was kind of crazy.
Now its this giant open study area and it looks absolutely slick. Definitely impressed with the SUB renos. I have to say that I really miss the Mac lab in the basement that had like 7 computers. I don’t miss waiting for a computer to free up. I do miss the feelings of typing in the future with OSX.
Lots of lounge areas to unwind.
I am installing Windows 10 in everything I can touch. Its really really awesome and I totally love it…when it works. So far my VAIO DUO 13 refuses to let me in. I have managed to get it on my desktop, and several other VAIOS.
Gorgeous summer nights are coming to an end soon.
Got to try this beast- MSI GT80 with MX Brown mechanical keys. I would have preferred MX Blues personally for typing. Its quite the beast.
Got to try out some budget hoem theater in a boxes, and I have to say they definitely match the price. The sub felt like it was less than 5 lbs in weight.
Got to try the Harmon Kardon Soho and Esquitre Mini. Both were pretty meh to me. While I absolutely was anamroed with the build quality of the Soho, and could kind of put up with its meh performance, the speaker was quite disappointing soundwise and I could never justify the purchase of it. I do like the dual nature of it being a portable battery, but I can’t get over its absoliutely poor sound. I definitely expected more based off the name.
Treadmill is back on a cold September day and I quite liked it. It felt quite good on teh feet compared to the hard concrete I am used to running on.
Gonna miss this in the coming months as fall kicks in. I am defintiely going to try to stay out as long as I can.
Trying out the Sony 24 F1.8 E mount lens – its a beast of a lens and I love it – its not worth the price to me though. At least in the current stage of my shooting.
So the NEX-5R went back to the store and I grabbed a NEX-5 from Kijiji for a wicked deal ….and its just ok. That’s how good the Sony a6000 is- it makes the first gen NEX just ok. I think its image quality is about on par with my Nikon D90 (makes sense given that they were released aroudn similar times). I don’t like the lack of lens compensation that the a6000 and NEX-5R have- I realized a lot of E mount lenses are terrible and theres quite a bit of in camera fixing happening in JPEGs. So far I am planning on mating it with my 16mm/ultrawide converter. I also miss the selfie LCD on the NEX-5R and the thumbwheel.
Forgot about digital zoom and went nuts one day taking pictures of far away things like the moon with the 55-210.
Trying out a forgettable Japanese restaurant on the northside.
The pork katsudon was good but too small for me.
The bento box was small and largely forgettable. Meh. Maybe I was mad that Little Bee HK cafe was closed.
At the Tea Place for soup,m sandwich and hot bubble tea. Pretty tasty sandwich for sure.
Sony SRSGD50IP 2.1 PC Speakers – they sound ok, and the cube speaker design is ok. The dock is cool- its a 30pin iOS device dock.
Comes with a decent sized subwoofer that dwarfs my other CPU speaker set ups. But it doesn’t compare to the next thing.
….. this is the mother load- the Sony DAV-IS10 in MINT SHAPE FOR CHEAP. I paid less than the tax on the original MSRP. AWESOME. So far they sound awesome, but more importantly for me, they look SWEET. They will be hard to position because of the bas sunit also handling midrange sound, but I can’t complain for the price. Sony really hit a nic ebalance of design and sound quality here. They are dense metal speakers and the subwoofer is a TON of bricks. One of the superficial measures of speaker quality- the weight of the device. Its definitely there. so happy to land this treasure.
PSL #blessed. Apparently that;s a hot hashtag for Pumpkin Spice Latte. Its good. I’m happy I had it with me, along with a breakfast sandwich that was dynamite and my current Mash Barkley Treatment of Child Psychology Disorders textbook for a nice afternoon read.
WK and I with WAY TOO SWEET Mango Lassi at Remedy Cafe. I will never order this again. Its a giant cup of syrup. Good company though.
