I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
HOLY BATMAN I HAVENT BLOGGED IN MORE THAN AMONTH. Its been an absolutely fabulous summer so far and its quickly coming to an end as fall approaches. The last month I have been spending a ton of time studying the IACAPAP Psychiatry textbook for children’s mental health and just eating up the fat delicious knowledge. Its been pretty slick so far and I have made some serious gains academically and clinically. I’m feeling more competent from this summer reading for schizz. I’ve tried to do it in many different places to keep my engagement up, like an outdoor park with my trusty Sony e-reader (has all of the chapters in it- love e-readers!), audio heaven and a good drink.
Went to Furosato on Whyte ave and enjoyed the heck out of it- the food was good quality and the decor was intimate and cozy. I loved it- they provided complimentary salmon appetizers too and dessert. Definitely a must go to.
Pork katsudon was superb.
Tried but true bento box. I love the warmth in here.
Vietnamese at Spring Roll Kitchen- freaking unreal hot for a few weeks here and its very very nice.
This is what I have been really focusing on the last little while- running the heck up the charts with all my buds on Nike Plus- I was holding a strong lead for a while until JH decided to take it up a notch and take a 30km lead for total monthly distance. I don’t think I can catch up with that.
Watched the fight of the century that should have had the attention the Mayweather Pacman fight had- Connor Macgregor put up an amazing turn around an d just stole the hears of everyone. I absolutely cannot get over the emotion on his face right here after winning and the sportsmanship from Chad Mendes.
I got to try out a high density 34 inch 21:9 screen at the Microsoft store and I was floored. I d love one of these to replace my main desktop screen one day.
I am so so so loving this combo- Sony PHA-2 portable amplifier, Sony Walkman X and XBA-3 triple balanced armature earphones. SO GOOD.
Picked up the Sony VCL-HG0758 x0.7 wide angle converter for super cheap and turned my old DSC-F828 into a canon- its so heavy now. Now it shoots at 20mm in F2.0.
Beautiful sunset at Hawrelak Park with WK.
Got to experience the opening of the southside T&T Sueprmarket and got instantly turned off by so many people. Still fun with the wife.
Grabbed a used Sony SBH52 and its kind of cool- it works like my SBH50 but its also a mini handset so I can use it like a mini phone- unfortuantely, its got like zero battery capacity left and it holds like 5 hours of charge. Kind of neat.
Enjoying the hot summer sun in my runs- I;ve been going out in the dead afternoon heat sometimes but with my trusty water bottle on my side. Its made a world of a difference running with water.
Enjoying the fruits of my labor after a rrun.
Royal Glenora stairs- packing in 4 sets of stairs ending on these ones- solid solid solid feeling right noq.
S and I enjoying italian Bakery subs- really really good company in the park.
Great food and great conversation. A good summer indeed
S made a nice gesture and gave me his Walkman X for free! Unreal – I love the tactile music controls at the top and the solid sound. Great design and really unique finish- glass and granite pebbling. I helped S get this years ago after much research and after salivating over it and perusing used forums, its here to play nice with my ears.
The Sony PRS-T3 has been great when I dont want to bring a tablet with me and just want reading on the go for little breaks during the day.
Dark rain clouds over the city- fairly rare this summer and likely why I have only had a few bouts of terrible itchiness
M busting out the fire for a nice evening out- really solid company again.
Building a monster fire with all the leftover carboard.
Shopping for baby strollers- I don’t know too much about them but I went for the one with the shocks and fat tires.
I really don’t know what I am looking at here, which is unsettling for me because I am usually well informed regarding consumer products before I buy.
Taste of Edmonton – fun but nothing special- the food was only good in a few particular places. Lots of deep fried fare and nothing particularly amazing.
I do love walking around the excitement though
City Hall at night
Trying out the massive baby carriage
Grabbed another VAIO SZ but this time the silver lower class model- never thought I would be saying the words magnesium and lower class in the same sentence given that its my favorite material. Its a clear step below the VAIO SZ carbon fiber edition I had first but its stilla wesome. Not sure what I will do with it yet.
Another super find- a VAIO Z1 from 2010, the last time I absolutely feel in love with a VAIO that was totally unattainable. Its got a few kinks to work out but it was an amazing find. I just love the design on this- it is however a step below the carbon fiber VAIO SZ (again!). Lots of plastic in here.
Grabbed a used Sony VAIO monitor and set of Sony 2.1 computer speakers that were a VAIO Desktop exclusive years ago- they don’t sound great, but they certainly are a unique find. have it hooked up to my VAIO S15 and its a nice combo overall.
The subwoofer
Briefly had a wonderful encounter with a Sony NEX-5R camera- I realized that I absolutely loved the full 180 degree flip for selfies and tiny size of the first NEX-5 series cameras (I really dislike the A5000 series) Although the camera isn’t all metal as I previously thought, its build quality is solid and its clearly a premium camera compared to its replacements – I had intended to use it as a wide angle camcorder and second body to my a6000 so I wouldn’t have to keep switching lenses, but alas circumstances said no. I am now on the hunt for one.
I got a Joby wrist strap to glam up my giant DSC-F828 combo.
Lunch at Little Bee cafe- delicious bbq meats.
Enjoying mosquitoes, friends and Folkfest. Only out for twnety minutes before I gave up and ran away from the mosuitoes.
