I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Got to enjoy a lovely early afternoon off at work after a team meeting. Enjoyed the summer sun in east downtown and just absolutely taking in the beautiful greenery. It was a wonderful afternoon.
I just love neighborhoods like this- overhanging trees over the streets.
It was a bit of a stinker in heat but not that bad. I could deal with it.
I love this huge set of stairs nearby- I’d love a big set like this near home- would make for some great cardio outdoors.
So I’ve been processing the VAIO SZ the last week or so and its been DYNAMITE. I managed to install enough drivers into it to get the majority of its functioning back- Windows 8.1 is not natively supported by it, so lots of workarounds needed to get things like the Nvidia 8400 GPU card working.
I just love love love that I can use a machine almost 6 years old in my current work flow- that’s how good this machine is. I love the design in particular- you can tell it is a premium design.
Chiclet keys before chiclet keys were cool. I think the Macbooks had the chiclet keys already at this point but the VAIO X505 had it in 2005! I love the little row of LEDs at the top.
The screen is ridiculous thin for its time- not so much in 2015, but in 2008 it was pretty swell.
Found out Sony made a crystal version of the VAIO Duo 13- so so so cool to see it all inside- you can see the monster battery in the front that gives it the big battery boost with Intel Haswell. I would LOVE to own this- it looks like it was a corporate mockup only deal- absolutely priceless.
Seriously so so so cool looking at ll the inside parts- like one of the 90s trends of making everything see through.
Ordered Western Chinese food at Taipan and the wiatress actually told us not to order it and order “real” Chinese food- did it anyways and she gave me a fork and chopsticks and said she wasn’t sure what I wanted. Culture clash!
It was kind of disappointing like she said- wanted more volume.
SO EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO PARK IN THESE SPOTS NOW.
Had team meeting at the McKay Ave school museum- the bathroom toilets were vintage and kind of neat- the staills also didn’t lock. Weird.
Perfect BBQ weather- making steaks and enjoying a perfect balance of warm sun and cool wind.
I love BBQ- just spending the time cooking food with family and enjoying the afternoon.
We’ll end off with one more shot of the lovely summer weather and people out and about enjoying it.
