The Sony VAIO SZ premium was a higher end laptop released from Sony in 2008 that was upwards of $2,399 USD at release. It was definitely one of my favorite laptops at its time but well well well above my undergrad budget. Part of the VAIO S business class laptop line up, the SZ was a premium line that later broke off into the high end Z series and low end SR series. The SZ premium was a carbon fibre enforced body that was slightly lighter, 3G cell band equipped and better screened version versus the basic SZ line up. I managed to grab the SZ with an already upgraded 120GB Corsair SSD, an upgrade that makes its 2008 era specs more manageable- it received a pretty paltry 3.5 in the Windows Experience index. I absolutely love the line of LEDs here- something that I was insanely jealous of in the Asus V series laptops as well. We will see how this one pulls up over time. It was in perfect condition! Its really a lot of nostalgia grabbing an item like this. Especially with the demise of Sony’s computer line.
Dad picked up a broken EOS M and fixed it up- really impressed with its styling and build quality. Its unfortunate that Canon didn’t put more effor tin the EOS M line – they really could have had a good hold in the mirrorless market.
Comparing mirrorless approaches- the impressive part is how HUGE the Pentax approach is here- its an absolute monster compared to Canon and Sony. Its also super unique looking. One thing I appreciate about the Sony is the tiny tiny kit lens- the first kit lens was a monster and really took away from its small body size.
Doing some trainign at NAIT. Really nice campus here and enjoyed the modern design.
Can’t believe that I got a huge sunburn from today’s sun.
Takeout sushi – Prairie Fire with spicy tuna, asparagus and peppers.
TnT roll with California roll and shrimp tempura.
Jack’s burger- really really fresh and tasty. Great tasting burgers.
The patty was unreal. I think it would have been even better if the buns were in house made. They were a bit cold.
Dinner at Blue Plate Diner- I LOVED the cozy nature of the restaurant.
Very very intimate in the restaurant.
Every corner of the restaurant was unique and cozy. Great for dates.
One of the unique lamps at each table.
Salad rolls at V Sandwiches. OK but I don’t think I really like salad rolls all that much.
Trying this new thing where I portion out my food and limit my eating per meal- really struggling with the weight watching right now.
Dinner with the rents with takeout from Safeway – nice chat time with the fam and some oddball deli hot foods to eat.
Mucho Burrito for lunch today- super filling and one of the few places where there is simply too much food for me
Picked up some gifts at Mastermind Toys and realkly surprised at the love and care they put in their store- this is the wrapping they provide- its really solid wrapping and better than I have ever seen.
parasaurolophus from Papo! New addition to the collection.
Dimetrodon- one of my faves, despite not liking it too much as a kid.
Baby t-rex
Velociraptor- not really one of my faves but definitely a memorable dinosaur.
T-Rex- one of Papo’s first dinosaur toys
Stegosaurus- another one I never really liked as a kid but now really appreciate for its massive spike tail. I’m really liking dinosaurs with big brute force like Ankylosaurus and its club tail.
