I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Snowy in the city the last week or so- quite cold and miserable. But I suppose that shouldn’t be a surprise living here.
Ja leung at Bee Cafe- it wasn’t as fresh as I would have like it to be- its also quite pricey.
The Hainan chicken was also kind of disappointing- it wasn’t served in its usual big tray with spread of sides. Don’t think I will order this again.
BBQ duck and preserved veggie fried rice noodles- this was quite good and fresh.
Excited to have lots of beef and tofu for lunch. W makes awesome work lunches for me.
This wasn’t as tasty as I thought it would be and was actually kind of overwhelming with stuffing.
The really nice thing about working in schools is that you can just let go of all the adult worries and just watch the joy in the little guys eyes. Everything simple to an adult is unreal exciting to their young brains and this is no exception- a Valentine’s Day party on a Friday afternoon was mind blowingly fun for them and I also had a blast doing crafts for an afternoon.
Gym entertainment- the tablet movie rests perfectly on the weight stand while I do curls.
Alas- my second attempt to get another product display failed- they refused to give me the Bose speaker display and its going back to the vendor. Too bad- it would have been perfect for making a Sony stand because of the replaceable inlets.
That includes the PS4 as well- no dice on getting this stand either. Its too bad- this stuff is legendary in my head- the ratest of the rare product.
The demo stand is a mess- its too bad cause I quite enjoyed coming to Target and listening to the incredible noise canceling technology it has to offer.
In other sad news- Sony will be spinning off its audio and video department into its own company. This could be good and bad. Bad in that Sony can no longer manage all of its assets and is breaking up. Good in that it may be easier for a smaller company to operate on its own without having to deal with other arms of the company- i.e. every single Walkman being hampered with terrible software until recently because Sony Music was so afraid of piracy that it shot itself in its own foot. You can see in the above slide that it still said that the audio side was a stable profit generator- I hope it will continue to do so because I absolutely live by Sony audio (as you can see the focus of this blog).
(image from global news). It was bad enough that Sony pulled its stores out in Canada- now I’m worried that I wont be able to keep getting Sony audio anymore. There is also news that Sony mobile might be for sale. A shame really because the Z series is finally shaping up to be their own unique sector in the phone market. Sigh. I’m already planning on what I will be hitting up when I head off to Asia. I’m going to be hunting Walkman paraphernalia hardcore. I wasn’t as into Sony at the time I last went, but you better believe I’m going to be all over that when I get there again. That and VAIO.
New Asian Village indian for dinner.
Comfort food- Spam meat and eggs on instant noodles.
Turnip pan fired cakes.
Tried my hand at making a Valentine’s day breakfast and I think visually it turned out well. Taste wise, I realized that there is so much I need to learn about cooking, it kind of stresses me out. The best parts of this dish were cold. Sigh. Oh well at least it turned out nice for the camera.
Flowers! So many men buying flowers alongside me that morning.
Gifts from the wife- finalyl got a dilophosaurus!
Found a new joint in town really close to university campus- Korean fried chicken and hot dogs.
The fired chicken was really good- fresh, crisp and light in oil. I don’t think I find gormet hot dogs that good. The dogs look great but taste wise, I just don’;t think they are midn blowing anywhere I have them.
Tried out the new Gama Store and I was not super pleased- the decor was nice and the staff were great. I just don’t like how it switched from being an authentic experience, to a more fusion style Taiwan cafe- I don’t really need anymore Western styled cafes- I’m in the most conservative province of Canada. The cap green tea was still good, but they took away the giant cup.
At least it had a different and nicer vibe in it than before.
Matcha tea on fancy toast- this was actually quite good and really rich in flavor. It was much better served with a group of people rather than just two people.
