I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Yesterday during bench press the wire broke- I’d like to think that it was because it couldn’t support the ridiculous weight my chest can pump, but its likely that its just old and its time was done. It was kind of crazy- half way through a rep it just snapped and there was suddenly no resistance.
So this is going to be the theme for the rest of the week as I stalk the Sony store before it closes officially.
I got to focus more on the Sony ZX1 35th Anniversary Walkman (the Sony store guys didn’t know it was the anniversary edition! ) and it was AWESOME sounding. I’ve read conflicting reports that its not a great sounding DAP- terrible because that’s what you are paying the bucks for, but to me it sounded awesome. I also love the fit and finish. The aluminum buttons felt so so so substantial and refined when I pressed it. I definitely liked the sound more than my own Walkman Z player.
I then amped up my Walkman Z player and compared it side by side- I think I need better headphones to appreciate the PHA-2. I was using the MDR-1RA and it didn’t really change in sound. I really like the finish of the PHA-2.
The PHA-3 was actualyl really fun sounding and I did like it- I still don’t get why you would use the ZX1 as a simple storage unit and then use the PHA-3 for a DAC and amp- makes no point in buying the ZX1. Anyways, I can’t afford this amp’s 1000 dlollar price tag.
W made a really interesting salted and lime preserved duck egg noodle dish- turned out to be really tasty and new to me.
Salted fish for dinner- my gandpa used to make a killer salted fish side dish. I wish I got the recipe from him. You just don’t appreciate it until its not there anymore. He would put these little mini bowls of salted fish and Chinese sausage as side dishes and they were absolutely killer. He made the best food.
The sign outside Shanghai 456 is remarkably unreadable even when youa re close up to it- you wouldn’t know it was there or a restaurant
Went to Shanghai 456 for dinner- beef stew on dan dan noodles- the beef was really good and tasty but the noodles were a bit too soft for me.
The restaurant was really empty- it was in a new location in the middle of industrial stores. Its too bad because service was amazing and the staff were really nice.
Shanghai 456 has excellent northern Chinese food and their potstickers were divine and juicy.
Their skin was nice and tasty. The meat had ton of delicious sauce.
I’m not sure if I really like the 35mm F1.8 OSS lens for these food shots- I managed to focus on a sliver of beef here.
Bonus mango pudding was one of the best I’ve had. SO GOOD.
The siu leung bau were amazingly tasty and filled with nice hot soup. I also can’t emphasize again how nice the staff were at this restaurant. Would go again.
