I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Got to experience rolling blackouts or just blackouts in the dead of winter during the massive ice storm in Toronto. Got to use RedFlagDeals to track salt and sand available for sale (not on sale, just FOR sale because they sold out so fast). It was amazingly beautiful and made me realize how much I love electricity when all my technology failed from battery life. I now own two back up batteries.
Got to stay one last time in W’s childhood home. It was lovely but bittersweet. I still remember walking through these doors at night to first time meeting her family. Some really great memories here.
Got to visit the Ontario museum in downtown Toronto- it was really expansive and we barely got to get through all of it.
Started a monster spree of Sony support this year with this random but awesome find – MRD-SA3000 headphones brand new in box despite being out of production for years. Sounded amazing and landed me in open headphone land for the first time. Still very pleased with these.
Then this started my trek in bluetooth land with the Sony BM10 music receiver. Now everything is connected and I am the bionic man.
Had a random out of the blue mix up at work (read: anger/frustration) and had to immediately outload a whole bunch of credits in a very short time . Got to pick up a whole bunch of stuff including the Sony 7520 which brought me into flagship closed headphone land. Also still pleased with this. As stressful as this incident management was, I was super pleased with the brief blow as much cash as you can in three days spree.
Got to head to Banff for the annual violence conference – met a lot of academics and clinicians engaged in anti-violence work and had a fantastic stay in Banff for a few days.
Got to watch window cleaners at work – loved meeting other people in their own trades.
Got to expeience the city waste facilitation place and see it processed as we gutted a friends home. This was pretty new and neat for me.
J’s bachelor party in Waterton was a blast and we got to have alot of hiking.
And thinking I am going to die moments like this hold this cable tightly or you will slip moments.
Beautiful scenery in Waterton national park.
Got to have my own bachelor party in a very primped out condo high up in Vancouver. I LOVE THESE VIEWS.
Hanging with my best buds and enjoying times together.
Canada day fireworks and staying cozy.
Buying weights for cheap all throughout the year and finalyl having a full range of steel in the gym.
Bowling for the first time with family. Destroying the bowling ball speeds because nobody bowls in my family.
Trying to pick up dance moves and utterly failing during out first dance, but having a blast with W after work every week.
Going back to undergrad and emergency enrolling in two senior psych courses so I can apply for my provisional psychologist’s license.
Learning cultural psychology and honestly having the freaking time of my life making friends and learning in class every morning and cramming studies out in the afternoon.
Spending lots of time in the Bio Scie cafeteria and smashing through notes, reflecting on knowledge and expanding my perspectives, especially for cultural psychology
Spending early summer on the northside of campus (after being southside of campus most of the time in Ed).
Wedding exchange between families and being able to have a blast connecting the two together.
GETTING MARRIED! It went by so so so fast. It was amaizng to spend time with everyone coming in but realizing there isn’t much time to do that really. SO MANY ACTIVITIES HAPPENING. Realizing how much work W put in
It was beautiful and perfect
Very delightful and closed with just the right people.
Lots of color and nice contrasty lighting that beautifully streamed in from the giant bay windows overlooking my spring time haunts in Bio Sci.
All the little decorations came together wonderfully.
Got to spend time with W’s friends and family in Banff and southern Alberta.
This was amazing- after the build up in the wedding, it was wonderful to just shut the engines down and hang out with everyone.
A huge highlight for me was finding a full gym with real weights for the first time in a hotel and not having to deal with cables.
Mid autumn festival with all the families together in one big BBQ at the park. This was AWESOME. Had so much fun building the fires.
J and V’s wedding was beautiful and ginormous and awesome. Finally got to see these guys get together after first hearing the gossip of them liking each other in undergrad. Hehe.
Amazing church for their ceremony.
FINALLY after all the spring courses, 6 years of two undergrad degrees, one masters and three years into a doctorate, I have a provisional psychologist license to practice with children. This is the end of the year and a decent way to end it. I finally feel like I am moving forward with my life, I am not perpetually a student anymore and that I can start building my career and my family after everything. I feel like I am now finding a method to my madness and everything I have learned through work, school and more school is finally coming together in a meaningful and comprehensive way. 2014 was a very productive year for me and I am looking forward to 2015.
