I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Pumping iron hard. I’m making a new personal goal to get my deadlift huge. I’m pushing hard on everything else, it makes no sense to not push hard on my dead lift. I’m starting at 210 lbs and adding about 10lbs per set and going for 6 reps. I ended at 300 lbs for 3 reps. I’d love to break 300lbs and get 310 lbs within a month. Feels good to have a new goal in the gym. It’s also a heck of a lot better than doing a monster volume of reps at moderate weight.
I’ve also shifted my abs workout to only hanging leg raises (weighted), reverse crunches (weighted) and ab wheel roll outs. I saw a study that looked at which ab workouts hit the hardest on the abs specifically and these three were consistently much stronger than any of the other exercises which included a good range of crunches. It felt a lot better to do these too, because there is less head movement. They were giving me monster headaches after and I had to do high volume with them. With these three, I am hitting hard and fast on the abs.
Hanging out by the high level bridge at night. Found a little nook to watch the evening lights.
Its really pretty at night here.
Mushroom chicken raviolli at Old Spaghetti Factory to celebrate my last day at eval services. Its been a crazy couple of years and I am ready to roll out tomorrow on my new work as the clinical psychology resident in a mental health clinic! Gonna be super slick.
Chicken parmiagiana with parmesan/butter sauce spaghetti. Super fatty but so salty and good.
This is really salty baked French onion soup. So good. So much sodium.
Its a nice friendly atmosphere inside. Nice and relaxing environment.
Getting the Fit serviced and got hit by new brakes. Eurgh. So much pricey. She’s handling well though and 38 bucks for a gas fill up doesn’t hit that hard.
Checking out all the room for activities in the Honda Odyssey! Ow Ow! I really liked it.
With the premium trim (black leather for me!), it is functional and classy inside. So much hauling room. So much Honda reliability. I want this in two years.
Shopping for new running shoes cause my Nikes are dead after a year. I really wanted these SHOX but they were too narrow and I just know I would get some hard blisters. I’m also not sure if these are actually meant for running. I bought a Nike shoe wallet to put the Nike+ sensor in it so I wouldn’t be limited to Nike plus shoes only.
Good bye eval services! My old cubicle that I had come to like quite a bit. Gonna be really different being in a non-office job anymore, but I’m looking forward to the stimulation and engagement I will get as a front line clinical worker.
Co-workers went out to Kyoto for lunch- this smoked salmon roll with crab meat was divine and had a nice sweet smokey taste.
This beef roll was pretty solid too but not as good as the salmon roll. The beef wasn’t as buttery as I would have liked it.
Packing up my office gear at the end of the day from eval services. Gonna be weird not coming here anymore that’s for sure. But I’m ready to go to greener pastures.
