I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
Gold flaked moon cake for Mid-Autumn festival- I ahve never seen or eaten a golf flaked moon cake- that’s actual gold flake. I wanted to save it and not eat it but that would have been rude.
It was a pretty good moon cake inside but there was nothing indicating that it had a bit of precious metal on top of it. I was pretty amazed I ate gold. It had no flavor.
Walking along the river valley at the end of summer.
Used to catch lots of these fat grasshoppers when I was a kid. Not sure if they are locusts or not. Or if locust and grasshopper are interchangeable common names.
View under the Groat road bridge.
Breakfast at Barb and Ernies’ the hotcake breakfast was monster size and I ate just a third of it (!). I’ve been seeing a good drop in my waistline that has nothing to do with my workouts and is all about my food quantity intake. Been pretty happy with that!
W had some meat combo (I didn’t get the meat dish for once!)
Morning tea.
Really happy about this new app that lets me add custom widgets- I’ve been able to really blow up my Sony Smartwatch 2 screen up with useful updates that really make it a smart watch.
OMG- I’m looking forward to the XBA-H3 earphones- these use hybrid drivers- one monster driver for lows, one dynamic BA driver and one super tweeter. I’m really interested in how they compare to my XBA3 tri BA earphones. They’re pictured beside the MDR-Ex1000 here, another one of my favorite cult Sony earphones.
Apparently there was a huge release the other day- the Sony PHA-3 is the third generation DAC/headphone amplifier and it looks pretty slick although its lost that Sony two color scheme.
This is the interesting bit of the bunch- the Sony SRS-Z7 is the new flagship and its priced accordingly- it sounds like it will be north of 500 CDN (some places are showing an inflated Euro price thats well above 1000 CDN but that’s pretty typical- its hard to gauge North American prices from Euro marked up MSRPs). It uses a 70mm driver which will be a big return for Sony. It last had one in the discontinued MDR-MA900. I’m looking forward to this can because Sony hasn’t had a monster headphone to rival the other headphone makers that are dropping big time releases like the Sennheisser HD800 . It last had a world class headphone in the MDR-SA5000 but that has long been discontinued (I’ve been definitely hunting for one of these magnesium clad beauties to complement the carbon reinforced plastic MDR-Sa3000s that I already have). There’s very little English information regarding the MDR-Z7 but at least Sony is back in the game
The new amp and headphone combo’d together.
OMG- the Z3 tablet compact (what kind of name is that) has an LTE chip that lets it be a phone in an eight inch size but with modern specs. After using my father in law’s Note 8 with HSPA cell chip I am convinced that I need more than a phablet for a phone but rather a full on tablet wtih cell connection. I’m definitely going to be thinking of this one for my next cell phone.
Steak for lunch.
Beautiful late afternoon sun
Fall is coming. I realized that I barely went outside this summer and spent most of my time indoors. Really didn’t do any running.
Cha siu for dinner.
My father in law made coffee pork ribs. There wasn’t that much coffee in it but it was good.
Snake fish (for the head shape I think). The meat was pretty tough and a bit too fishy for my tastes
