I am a registered psychologist, a doctoral candidate who has not graduated, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
First meal of the trip- vietnamese in Calgary. This was ok- I thought it would be sausage meat rather than sausage. Crunch spring rolls were delicious though
ROAD TRIP! Headed out from Calgary at 9:30 PM and landed in Vancouver at 7:30 AM.
Went to breakfast at a very obnoxious restaurant that did waffles- the waiters were very passive aggressive about getting us out quickly and it altogether felt very rushed and annoying.
Stayed at a condo unit at the 16th floor in Yaletown. SO SLICK. So much balcony- this place had three separate balcony areas plus the common veranda area. Had a lot of fun staring outside.
Xiao long bau. Really good. But not spectacular.
Sweet and sour fish. This was crunchy and fresh and delicate all at the same time.
I had to dress up as Pikachu and ask girls out. The biggest challenge was really to control my sweat in the Vancouver humidity. This panda did not reciprocate my love.
We battled it out in these clear floaty balls that were filled with a day of sweat from other riders. It was really gross inside them.
Looking out from the front of our balcony at the highway traffic flow
Absolutely gorgeous from the balcony here. I could get used to this
Chinese restaurant that makes hand made noodles. Wonderful atmosphere inside.
This guy was busting out the dough.
The noodles were delicious and fresh.
Went ziplining and absolutely had a blast- I think the company was called Super Fly and it was ridiculously well staffed. The workers were incredibly friendly and helpful and apparently all from Australia. I ended up smashing my calf real good here but it was totally worth it. The sights were ridiculous.
Went for a bike ride around Vancouver island and made the mistake of wearing my sling bag , which made the ride very wobbly
Sushi dinner at a local joint near the beach. It was ok, nothing standout.
Gastown (?) was absolutely picturesque at night
Dim sum the day after – I love watching cooks in open kitchens
Lots of nice crunchy/tender contrasts in these dishes.
A nice cold rain back in Alberta. No warm summer nights like out in the coast. I must say I am jealous of Vancouver.
