I am a registered psychologist, a doctoral candidate who has not graduated, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
I finished my last exam Wednesday and it was glorious- I really felt like I nailed it down. The entire exam was about synthesizing new ideas and concepts from the whole course and I felt like that’s exactly how I have been studying and forcing myself to think this whole term- what does 11 freaking years in university mean to me- how does this affect my clinical practice and how does this frame my perspectives on what I want in life and where I want to go from it. It was a really great course looking at the history of psychology – how different philosophies and paradigms of thought affect current understandings of psychopathology and psychotherapy. I feel like I managed to really lock that into my own practicum site as well and make a real congruent understanding across everything that I am doing right now in school and where I want to go when I escape this academic sand trap. Great end. Now about that doctoral candidacy……..
The Sony HDR-MV1 is one of those devices to me that just screams look at me I am different. I love the massive stereo microphones on it meant to get a higher level of audio quality in video recording. Not sure how I feel about that LCD screen permanently mounted on the side like that.
I didn’t know the PHA-2 was coming to Sony Canada! Its been kind of frustrating because you can only read about audio devices so much – its so subjective that whether its worth the cost to spend on a device like an amplifier like this is hard to say. I didn’t have my equipment to try it, but I will be back. It was a lot larger than I thought it would be though.
The Sony SRS-X9 bluetooth speaker was a really great looking device but at 699, you’d have to be really compressed for space to choose this over a 2.1 set of speakers- I could spend the same money and buy the Audioengine A5+ speakers and the S8 subwoofer and have sound that would easily eclipse this- of course that’s not the point of this device to excel just in audio- its to be an all in one compact package sort of deal. Regardless I liked the sound a lot from it and wouldn’t mind a private listening session in a quiet room with it.
W made steak and corn for dinner.
Egg dish
We burned a lot of cake to make this Betty Crocker mix in our toaster oven. There was a lot of struggle with broil vs. bake for us.
This was disgusting- it was the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry- it was so much chocolate and it was not mixed at all. I regretted trying it.
Small fries.
Celebrating my last exam of my life for classes! Portuguese beef stew on rice.
Chow mein and congee for W. Taipan always delivers everytime, all the time. Well most of the time.
Some really gross T&T Supermarket hot food dishes- just really greasy and kind of tasteless- a lot worse than the T&T in Markham.
Went with WK to Sicilian Pasta Kitchen for his bday- had chicken lasagna and it was superb! I have been eating so much red meat lately that chicken is an exotic fare for me right now. And it was done so differently than what I am used to. The meat was really tender.
Nice relaxing atmosphere inside SPK.
Cheung fan for breakfast the other day.
Some pan fried bun
Got to play with S’ s PS Vita- the graphics were actually kind of a let down for me, especially compared to what I can get on really cheap Android games on my phone. I was really surprised by this.
This was the most painful order I have ever done- the lady just did not get what I was asking for when I tried to get dinner at Tim Horton’s.
Half and half pizza at Boston Pizza- they both were delicious- spicy perogy and meateor- the meateor had meat spaghetti sauce and was divine.
Benchign hard through my disease- I caught something fierce that gave me a sore throat for a night and then just drained my body of all my energy that no amount of coffee would replenish. Working out gave me the boost after to wake up, but I overheated like crazy. Working with infants and toddlers is always a problem because they are massive vectors of diseases and just have unreal dirty habits like licking EVERYTHING. I blame them for getting sick. Whatever it is, I seemed to have gotten over it today so I am happy. Glad I got sick after my finals and not during the finals.
Trying out a 4K screen for the first time- a Samsung panel with a Corsair Carbide Air case set up at Memory Express. Didn’t blow me away as much as I thought it would. Lots of space to work with but not like mind blowing. The cheapest for one of these panels is 599 and I’d have to upgrade my GPU to crossfire and the PSU to power those dual cards.
Watched the Raid 2 yesterday and it was fantastic- lots of action, lots of violence, lots of excitement. A lot more story than the first one IMHO. It was ridiculously packed in the theaters though- it was like people forgot how to park and they just parked wherever they wanted to.
