I am a practicing clinician, a recent doctoral graduate who finally graduated school but will never leave school, a huge technology lover, a man constantly fighting off the fat, and a father.
I love this crew so much! Good times wherever we go, including McDonald’s.
Family came up for the thanksgiving weekend and we had BBQ meats and salted fish/chicken for dinner the first night.
Dad made a really good creamy mushroom veggie dish.
Pumpkin and apple pie with ice cream for dessert
Shortbread cookies that were pretty much flavorless.
Ice cream and baked goods. So good.
Went to Taipan for lunch with fam- everyone ordered beef stew/wonton noodle soup.
Portuguese chicken and rice
Hotpot for dinner. I’m not a huge fan of boiled meat and soy sauce but I do love the company who happens to love boiled meat and soy sauce so thats cool.
Lots of beef .
This fish actually turned out really well in hot pot. I usually despise fish in hot pot cause it turns too fishy but not bad at all. Very tender.
All my goodies.
Uncle bought the G15 on clearance- the rival to my P7700. It feels pretty solid, is a lot smaller in my hands compared to my Nikon and has plenty of useful controls. That my uncle won’t use. Cause he shoots on auto.
Its a plastic build compared to the P7700’s magnesium build but still feels great.
Dim sum at Beijing Beijing.
These bolo cha siu bau were RIDICULOUSLY good. Crunchy and so flavorful.
Chicken feet. Ok. Kind of weird, acidic and creamy.
Some internal organ that tastes good but sounds kind of weird when you acknowledge what it is.
Salted fish and chicken fried rice.
Chow mein.
Ja leung. Not bad.
Had way too much frozen yogurt and Menchies with my friends- I kept thinking oh I still have room I must fill it- eight bucks of yogurt and it was disgusting at the end.
W made a really nice bean/pork rib dinner.
Off to Corbett Hall to do some interdisciplinary consulting with other medical teams. Got to work with students from occupational therapy, speech language pathology and education on top of our team of clinical psychology to really make a great inter team collaboration. Really exciting to do this and wish we had this more often- it sounds much better than the obligatory Inter D all the med students have to do with everyone.
Masalaz in Millwoods for dinner with friends- one last hurrah before we all break off. Well at least before I do cause my weekend is going to suck.
I honestly have no idea what I was eating most of the time. Food was good, prices were good and the atmpsphere was what I like- small family restaurant that spends more time on the food and not the decor.
Samosas.
Butter shrimp.
Roti bread (?)
?
Chicken bismati?
Unspeakable beef dish
Butter chicken.
I really like the bounced flash shot more- the lighting was pretty yellowy and unflattering.
Everything piled on my plate
J made a brilliant idea of dumping the ice cream cone on the cnnamelts. Unreal.
Sony release the RX10 and I died. It has a one inch sensor like its rx100 series and Nikon’s 1 series, but also an EVF and a 24-200mm zoom lens with a constant f2.8 aperture. I love these all in ones! Look at that glass how huge it is!
And here is where I realize my dreams are shattered. I had always wanted the exact same specs of the RX10 but in the prosumer compact camera size- clearly this is not the case. Here it is side by side with the updated version of my camera, the Nikon P7800. Honestly, after looking at how I use my P7700, I really don’t see the need to upgrade – it has several assets that I love- a 180 degree LCD that lets me frame from the front of the camera, an IR port for a simple remote shutter function, a hot shoe for my versatile SB400 flash and a really great zoom range- not to mention the magnesium build.
This is where the size difference is really apparent. that huge zoom lens and constant aperture really keeps it massive. This is an amazing camera but a tprice of 1399 CDN on preorder, it truly is a tough sell, considering the newly announced Sony Alpha 7 offers a full frame and mirrorless camera size body for just 1699. Of course you would not find an 8x zoom with f2.8 aperture anywhere or for cheap if it ever came out. Images pulled from DPReview.com
Added a headphone rack to my chassis. An old text book stand I use occassionally, it hangs perfectly for my case and displays my can lineup. Wonderful. W’s Hello Kitty headphones eventually made their way over too somehow.
Crashing at J’s with a late night of McDonald’s and song
Grabbing some meats for uncle to take home
All of my favorite food groups
This crab was putting the chokehold on the lobster in the restaurant tank
I got to see the Sony Xperia Z1 today! It felt pretty good in hand and wasn’t as small as I thought it would be consdiering its .5 inch smaller than my Note 2. Felt like a premium device but wasn’t quite mind blowing enough for me to try for an early upgrade.
This. I would try to upgrade for this. The Z Ultra is FFREAKING HUUUUUUUUUGE. It felt still useable as a phone in my hand but fantastic as a media device. The big question remains- get an Xperia Z1 as my main phone and couple it with a Xperia Z Tablet with a 5 inch and 10 inch screen combo…or just not care and keep using the Not e2 that is actually treating me really well. Seriously choked that Rogers isnt carrying this one. I’ve never been such a fanatic to buy a phone outright but dang. This phone. It felt super premium and the power and the screen size just made a great combo. I have to say that the 2 year plans make upgrading so much better. So glad that they got forced to do so.
