Dannychoo goes through a break down and decommissioning of his wife’s old iBook G4. I was thinking damn why did he have to do that just to destroy the HDD. Then I remembered how terribly designed the iBook was and how I pretty much decided against upgrading its drive. I just googled the SSD upgrade projects and it doesn’t even use SATA. Yeah I don’t know if I want to even care that much about upgrading it. I’m not surprised to see it smashed up like this.
Bicep day today. I’m really comfortable with the standing curls, ez curl and hammer curl sets times ten, but I don’t think I am going to move up in weight. Its already getting a little tough to fit in my shirts now at my arms and shoulders.
Really impressed with the rehashed Sony boombox I saw in the Sony store. Sub in the middle, all in one drivers and tweeters on the side. Aggressive design that I love and BT but no APT-X (?!) support. Don’t need it but want it.
Chinese food at the folk’s place for dinner.
Fluffy cream cake for dessert.
I think this was mango.
Vietnamese at Pagolac with M
Chicken soup with pork and shrimp. I wish I didn’t add the lime into it.
Milk tea- pretty meh.
Another meh drink. Won’t be going back here anytime soon. Downtown.
I did like the cozy atmosphere though.
Vanilla cakes we used to get all the time when we were kids- except we had the pandas not the duck/swan thing here. Tasted exactly what I remembered it to be- a ton of cream. With food coloring.
Dim sum with W on the wknd downtown.
I LOVE PAN FRIED BUN.
Ja leung- also a fave of mine since discovering it in Toronto the first time I was there. Could not resist the crunchy and soft texture combo.
W made a really good leftover box with a multitude of flavors. I love these rainbow boxes.
Steak for dinner. It still mooed. Perfect.
Upgrading J’s old Core 2 duo Macbook with an SSD.
Was going to do a dual drive set up like in my VAIO S15, but Apple made the optical connector PROPRIETRY. WTF. So the secondary bay didn’t fit. Also there are a ton of different sized screws in this thing. WTF. There are four screws that I need to place appropriately right now and they are not fitting. I love how Apple decided to make this ridiculous.
Booting up for the first time with the new drive. Amazingly, Apple has done a good job porting over new drives from old ones, so it just transferred everything like new. Was really pleased with this, as no reinstalling of programs made it a much cleaner install. cleaner than any windows instlal I have ever done. This was my first Mac drive upgrade and I was pretty pleased with it. I also screwed up and made J buy DDR3 RAM and not the DDR2 it needed so um yeah. Luckily I had some older laptops with good DDR2 ram still intact so away it went.
I am super impressed with my backup drive. With the carabiner, it hangs off my DFrame chassis like a hardcore climber pack and it just backs up with its super secure enclosure looking cool and keeping it safe. I realize I am praising a portable drive but whatever. I like it. I am curious about heat build up inside as there really is no ventilation.
