Breakfast at Toyoko Inn. This long table was ready every morning at seven to nine AM. Filled with rice rolls, seasoned rice, miso soup, coffee/tea, sandwiches and pickles. And they really really do not want you to take out food, even if it means throwing it away. Which makes sense cause then everyone would do what we did, as in take sandwiches for lunch and then have the lunch lady come yell at you haha.
And heres all the breakfast food spread out! As exciting as this was, it got old by the end of the week. But in the meantime, the food was exciting. The soup was really the nicest part.
Me outside of our inn, right in the middle of Tokyo. So crowded here, no room for running. A little sad.
Just walking around outside our hotel on the way to the train.
A restaurant with live Japanese spider crab. Its quite a small one. If I remember right, these crabs are quite deep sea, and so it must be hella expensive to eat them here.
More streets.
The subway was kind of intimidating Like really intimidating. Good thing W can read the characters.
Waiting for the train at these guard rails. Very different than the train back home.
The train at a much less crowded time than usual. I really liked how the train talked to you and said where you were and what was coming up next.
A lot of bakery. One of my favorite things in Japan by far! Lots of delicious and wonderful buns.
Seafood at the Tsukiji fish market.
Me at the Tsukijiji fish market. It was quite late by this time, so we missed out on the morning auctions (pretty much my fault cause the early morning time was really really early)
Some new dishware in a store at the Tsukijiji market.
I always find it interesting to see what public transit is like in other countries. I really wish the bus stations back home would show when the next bus would show up so you weren’t hopelessly waiting and worrying that you missed it.
Overpriced dessert at a higher end cafe. The food was ok, but it was like 15 bucks for this. Not really for me. Buuut, we got out of the rain, which was cold and depressing. I was an idiot and wore shorts that day.
The portable music player section in the Sony center! Very exciting. Sony was one of my favorite brands before, and I am excited to be looking at one of their products once more. Their headphones didnt really sway me though. Nothing really sways me since I got my Beyerdynamic DT1350s though.
In the VAIO section! Can’t believe I focused so much on the Z series in front of me, and ignored the awesome S series right behind that I am now so strongly checking out.
Really wished I picked up some VAIO accessories while I was here. There’s not that many accessories in Sony Canada. I guess I didnt know I would be looking at a new laptop in a month. It would be pretty tough for me to say no to a Panasonic SX series that i would later see in Akihabara district knowing that I would be looking for a new comp though haha.
Out on the roof top of one of the local department stores. Its very cold right here, and the wind was just brutal. It was really hot that morning so it was completely wrecking my body system with the temp change.
Apple Store! I think this was in Ginza at this point. But see, I don’t find Apple that magical that I need to go check out their stuff in other countries. They have an awesome design team, but I am kind of uninspired by the recent models that are pretty rehashed of what they have been making the last few years. Thats why I am so hyped over the VAIO design!
UNIQLO at Ginza! Very cool ten floors of fun.
View out from the top floor in UNIQLO.
Lots of t-shirts!
More t-shirts!
Balls!
Night street in Ginza.
Trying to navigate the mean and massive transit system to go home.
Always a ton of people at the train station. There’s never a time when the train is empty. Just less people, but never empty.
Walking home to the hotel.
Had a lot of Pork Katsudon in Japan! Although very good (this was from a fast food chain), it got tiring. I overkilled it a little bit.
Not in Japan. Today W and I went to a McDonald’s to try to chill out. My lappy would not connect to wifi and my POS Blackberry would not open a wi-fi hotspot. First world problems. And the problems with relying on technology. But on another note, this McDonald’s is looking really really fancy. I like how clean they have really pushed all their restaurants to be. Serious contender for Starbucks and Second Cup study and reading breaks. The best part? The super cheap refillable coffee. Thats also really fantastic coffee.
Sneaking in another look at the VAIO S15. Its still so beautiful in hand. And the white E series with silver buttons beside it looked terrible. I am getting black for sure. And the rough texture of the chassis still feels so very awesome. I really like how people are arguing in the forums whether it really is magnesium, cause thats exactly the kind of thing I was thinking about. Whatever it is, I love it.
