Managed to finally snag my Beyerdynamic DT1350 headphones at Long & McQuade today on Whyte ave! Took me so long to find these, as a graduating MEd (not yet) and acceptance into the doctoral program gift to myself. I didn’t know they had L&M stores in Edmonton, thought they were only in Toronto. I tried to get them at Studio Economik in Montreal, but they had none in stock and no idea when they would come in. And they were almost fifty bucks cheaper at Montreal. Thankfully the guys just price matched and boom here they are! I love how the Beyers have gotten such good reviews, especially from InnerFidelity. Compared to the Bowers & Wilkins P5s (which I still want to have one day), they aren’t as luxurious feeling (I mean the P5s are made of lamb skin leather and steel), but they have way better sound reviews. They isolate really well and will be perfect for transit and work use. I am stoked for these.
I am also stoked about prime lenses. Realized that I had a gem in my 50mm f1.8 that I never use, because it seemed so tight indoors. Although my 18-105 kit lens is way more versatile, its very boring to shoot with and I only use it with taking memory shots, nothing creative. So in comes a Nikon 35mm f1.8! A wider focal length that I can use indoors easier and very sharp. And very cheap. Super awesome! Can’t wait. Coming in from B&H Photo in the states to save a bit of change compared to over here. I took the headphone shot with the 50, which the 18-105 wouldnt have been useful with. I am excited.
